VISIONS FOR A FEMINIST FUTURE

“I want to continue to plan by way of courageous and compassionate imagination—to dare and challenge myself to think bigger than I ever thought possible.”—2021 inaugural poet Amanda Gorman in conversation with Gloria Steinem at 21 For ’21

Everywhere you look, women and their allies are remaking the world—changing our ways of thinking, ways of working, ways of living to make them more just for all of us.

So what does a freer, fairer world look like? To answer that question, The Meteor brought together leaders, activists, artists, and allies to share their dreams—and plans.

21 For ’21: Visions For a Feminist Future featured leaders including Joy Buolamwini, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Dr. Silvia Federici, Travon Free, Roxane Gay, Ilana Glazer, Amanda Gorman, Meena Harris, Gloria Steinem, and more. (See the full list below—and the full production credits here.)

The event also featured The 21 For ’21 Syllabus, presented by The Meteor Fund. In it, 21 visionary thinkers—Alicia Garza, Phoebe Robinson, Jose Antonio Vargas, and more—share works they believe point the way to a more feminist tomorrow.

2021 inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and writer and activist Gloria Steinem discussed the five words they hope to use more in the future.

Lana Condor, Rise founder and CEO Amanda Nguyen, and president of The Asian American Foundation Sonal Shah joined former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for a roundtable to discuss women in the AAPI movement.

Reshma Saujani, founder of Marshall Plan for Moms, spoke with legendary activist Dr. Silvia Federici, co-founder of the 1970s Wages for Housework movement.

Activist, host of UNDISTRACTED, and MSNBC contributor Brittany Packnett Cunningham sat down with writer, comedian, and Oscar-winning director Travon Free.
