About the Meteor

The Meteor is a new media company founded by journalists, artists, filmmakers, and media leaders who believe in the power of words, images, and stories to advance gender and racial justice. The Meteor’s storytelling happens across platforms–from audio, live events, and virtual workshops to social content series on Instagram and beyond.


We are looking for an experienced and mission-driven Sales Lead to develop and lead revenue-driving partnerships via sponsorships. This person will be responsible for ideation, outreach to brand partners (inbound and outbound), and negotiating the various elements of the partnership.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop & maintain pipeline of brand partners, in accordance with revenue goals set by The Meteor
    Create & ideate sellable partnership ideas on behalf of The Meteor (both custom ideas & major tentpole moments)
  • Develop proposals (in collaboration with internal stakeholders) and present to brand partners
    Work with internal stakeholders on partnership budget to ensure ideas meet revenue goals & margin guardrails
  • Negotiate and finalize partnership details in written contracts
  • Support Client Services Lead in the activation phase and problem-solve as needed to ensure partnership goals are met or exceeded
  • Work closely with Client Service Lead at conclusion of partnership on program renewal


  • 8-10 years experience in brand partnerships and/or advertising sales
  • Strong relationships in the brand marketing & agency worlds that can be leveraged for sponsorships
  • Ability to roadshow ideas to various agencies to drive inbound RFP’s
  • Experience in selling digital media, audio (podcasts), and experiential (virtual and IRL) partnerships (ability to sell on both a CPM and flat fee basis is a plus!)
  • Experience in dreaming up brand collaborations that effectively weave in partner marketing objectives
  • Experience working cross-functionally with content leads, designers and other team members
  • Compelling presentation and writing skills—you can make ideas jump off of a page
  • Superior negotiation skills and experience working with legal teams
  • Problem-solving skills—you can strategize on the spot and pivot quickly when necessary
  • Autonomy—you’re a self-starter who can hit the ground running and schedule meetings with potential sponsors
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Positive outlook and can-do attitude
  • Interest in culture, news, & making the world a better place through a feminist lens


This is a full-time role, expected to be 40 hours per week.


Compensation for this position is $130,000+.


The Meteor is based in New York, but is currently working remotely on ET hours. We anticipate we will operate as a hybrid company in the future, and encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
