  • Partner with the Director of Audience Development to ensure high-quality journalism and on-brand voice in social content, along with creating promotion campaigns tailored to our major projects.
  • Create a social editorial calendar. This includes developing content ideas, seeking partnerships, and proposing new projects.
  • Manage and mentor internal and external contributors, including freelance social media editors.
  • Interact with our audience on our social platforms, from responding to and moderating comments to hosting IG Lives.
  • Track metrics and use them to make data-based decisions and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with platform publishing partner teams.
  • Ensure accessibility of posts via SRT captioning, alt text on images, and other best practices.
  • Create and/or supervise creation of social toolkits for key stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • A deep interest in and commitment to advancing gender equity, especially through journalism and art
  • 5+ years experience creating social media content and strategy for a media brand
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams, both as a leader and collaborator as needed, and to also work independently with a high degree of initiative
  • The agility to work on multiple projects simultaneously, identify priorities, and map out timelines, all with an eye for detail
  • The creativity to maximize resources and devise solutions
  • The flexibility to react to news and incorporate fast feedback
  • Excellent grasp of voice and tone; superior news judgment

Even better if you also:

  • Have managed direct reports
  • Have experience with paid social marketing
  • Understand image use rights and clearances, along with best practices for sourcing and clearing UGC
  • Enjoy staying up-to-date on the social media landscape and evolving best practices
